Robert Burgess and Emma Karran - Flute and piano

Robert has performed extensively in public concerts and competitions: as a soloist and as an accompanist to both vocal and instrumental musicians.

Most recently, he became a founder member of The Real Tonic, a chamber music ensemble comprising piano, flutes and cello.

Emma has played in a wide range of musical ensembles. She began teaching flute and piano in the local area three years ago and upon moving to Painswick, was invited to incorporate local music talent into the annual Arts Festival in the village.

She and Rob began a collaboration especially for the Festival.

Jessie Robinson - Contemporary Piano & voice

Jessie is at present a music scholar studying near Newbury and especially loves singing and accompanying herself on the piano.

Her favourites genres are pop, jazz and soul music – Adele being one of her favourite artists.

Miranda Rutter and Rob Harbron - Folk: fiddle and concertina

Miranda performs extensively in a variety of folk ensembles, including the celebrated Methera and Boldwood.

She has collaborated with a range of well-known artists and is a tutor, with Rob Harbron, at the English Acoustic Collective Summer School at Ruskin Mill in July.

Rob has emerged as one of the leading lights in the ongoing renaissance of English music.

Considered to be one of the finest concertina players of his generation, he is in demand as a teacher and workshop leader, has performed and broadcast widely in Britain, Europe and North America, and is constantly creating mesmerising new compositions.

Beacon Gospel Choir

The Beacon Gospel Choir sings a whole range of Gospel songs both old and new, as well as some they have written themselves. Since their formation five years ago, the choir has grown to more than thirty members and has developed into something both excellent and joyful, with a growing number of followers. They are supported by their own superb band and have been bringing life to churches with their performances throughout Gloucestershire.

Painswick Singers - (Including workshop)

The Painswick Singers, long established for their concerts of sacred and secular concerts in Painswick, will lead an Open Choral Workshop. A range of part song music, including songs from the musical “Les Miserables”, will be rehearsed.

This will be an entertaining experience for both audience and participants.

This is an opportunity for anyone to try-out their voice alongside an experienced group of singers.

Previous experience is not necessary - there will be a small additional charge for the hiring of music.
